VerbaVolant opens its House. Where? In Syracuse and, more precisely, on the island of Ortigia.
What is Casa VerbaVolant: yet another literary b&b? No, it’s so much more.
Let’s start from the beginning. Casa VerbaVolant is situated in a five-storey building dating back to the 18th century in Via Landolina, a stone’s throw from Piazza del Duomo (Cathedral square). It includes apartments, rooms, a library, an area dedicate to exhibitions and one for cultural activities. Hence, a multifunctional space combining antique and modern features, with literature as common denominator. The apartments and rooms are dedicated to typewriters and the authors that used them or to typographic fonts and their creators: old typewriters are located in each lodging. Additionally, several other ones can be found in the common areas and are available for use by all guests, who may type messages, thoughts or – why not – even their first novel! The pieces of furniture are also themed, with one eye on the past and the other to the present. The library features a wide range of novels and comic books for all ages, while the meeting room is an open space, which can be also used by the city, suitable for workshops, presentations and events. You are free to decide where and how long you wish to stay at Casa VerbaVolant whether is it only for a few days or more than a month. We – Fausta and Elio – will be glad to welcome you in our little corner of the world and share our passion for books. This love blossomed many years ago reinvigorates every day with our publications and is now further blooming thanks to this new project, which is closely tied to the history and culture of Syracuse and Ortigia. About us
Un B&B davvero superbo, in tutti i suoi aspetti. Posizionato benissimo, perfettamente incastonato tra piazza Archimede e piazza Duomo (una delle più belle al mondo), in una via piena di ristoranti e attività commerciali ma del tutto insonorizzato. Al suo interno, tutto è curato nel minimo dettaglio. Niente è lasciato al caso. Arredato con pezzi vintage, restaurati con estrema cura e gusto. Oltre alla tanta bellezza degli arredi e degli ambienti, ci si trova letteralmente avvolti dalla cultura in forma di libri (tantissimi) e illustrazioni, molti editi dalla casa editrice dei proprietari Fausta ed Elio così come molte delle illustrazioni sono espressione di un’artista che collabora con loro. Davvero super l’idea di aver appaltato alla stessa illustratrice Roberta Rossetti la realizzazione della mappa di Ortigia che viene fornita agli ospiti. Bellissima!! E last but not least Fausta ed Elio!!! Una cortesia, una gentilezza e una creatività davvero ineguagliabile. Merce rara di questi tempi. Che si riflette in ogni cosa, anche nella scelta della inimitabile colazione, proposta in una innumerevole serie di prodotti dolci e salati di piccole aziende del territorio, quando non realizzati direttamente da loro.
Un b&b eccellente grazie a posizione, comfort, spazi a disposizione, ma soprattutto grazie alla disponibilità e attenzione ad ogni particolare dei proprietari. Colazione varia e preparata personalmente con prodotti locali, che rispecchia l'amore per la sostenibilità e la propria città e regione. La quantità di libri e macchine da scrivere a disposizione fa fare un tuffo nel passato! Grazie!
