The Hermes room is dedicated to the historical Swiss typewriters and the English author Douglas Adams, who used one of these typewriters for its writing activity between the seventies and the nineties. He became famous with “The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy”, a novel originated from the radio series of the same name, but is also well-known for the series of books dedicated to Dirk Gently and Doctor Who. Here you’ll find a selection of his works in different languages, as well as a Hermes Media 3. Feel free to use it during your stay and write your friends a letter or, why not, your first novel!

The room measures around 18 sq m and comes with a double bed, en-suite bathroom with shower and air-conditioning. It is the most romantic room of Casa VerbaVolant: from the balcony, there is a stunning view over the “Collegio dei Gesuiti” church and the picturesque Porto Grande.

The Olivetti room is dedicated to the historical typewriter factory of Ivrea. We chose Italo Calvino to represent it: one of the most important Italian writers of the mid-twentieth century. He was a prolific author of essays, short stories, novels and novellas. Therefore, you’ll find a small selection of his works in different languages in the room. Obviously, there’s also a typewriter: it could only be a Lettera 22. Feel free to use it and send a postcard to your friends or, why not, maybe to write your first short story!

The room measuring around 28 sq m features high ceilings boasting wooden beams and is provided with a double bed, a single sofa bed, bathroom with shower and air-conditioning. Thanks to the two balconies with curved balusters, it is a very bright room, overlooking via Landolina with views to the baroque church of “Collegio dei Gesuiti”.

The Triumph room is dedicated to historical German typewriters and the British journalist and writer Ian Fleming. He used one of these machines in his estate in Jamaica, nicknamed “Goldeneye”, where he used to write all of his novels. He is obviously best known for having brought to life James Bond in 1953 with his series of spy novels.

The room includes a selection of his books in different languages, as well as a Triumph Norm typewriter. Feel free to use it and write a letter or, why not, your first story!

The Royal penthouse is dedicated to New York typewriters and to the science fiction writer Ray Bradbury, who used this brand to write some of his most famous masterpieces including, for example, Fahrenheit 451, a dystopian eulogy to reading.

You will find a small selection of his books in different languages ​​and a Royal typewriter from the 1920s.

The penthouse, measuring around 120 sq m, consists of a double bedroom with walk-in wardrobe, twin bedroom, bathroom with shower, large kitchen (with electric oven, dishwasher, induction hob, fridge with freezer), small laundry room with washing machine, large and bright living room with glass wall overlooking a beautiful terrace of a further 36 sq m overlooking the Porto Grande. You can relax reading a good book on the sofa, sunbathe on the armchairs or dine while enjoying one of the colorful sunsets over the sea.

The Remington penthouse is a small apartment dedicated to historical American typewriters and the writer and playwright Agatha Christie, who used one of these typewriters for the writings. She is worldwide known for her novels revolving around her fictional detectives Hercule Poirot and Miss Marple.

Here you’ll find a selection of her books in different languages as well as a Remington typewriter from the fifties. You may use it to write a page of the travel diary or, why not, your first poem!

The apartment measuring around 45 sq m is situated on the fifth floor of the building, apt. number 16.

It consists of a double bed, bathroom with shower, air-conditioning, kitchen with electric oven, induction hob, fridge and freezer, dishwasher, dining area.

Additionally, there is an adorable balcony, which can be used to enjoy your breakfast or have a glass of delicious Sicilian wine while admiring Piazza Duomo or overlooking the Porto Grande.

The apartment is dedicated to the French printer and engraver Firmin Didot and his famous font. Belonging to an distinguished family of printers and publishers, he also made himself known for having made economical editions of classical works available.

The Apartment is dedicated to the English sculptor and designer Eric Gill and one of his famous fonts, used for the first time in a library opened in 1926 in Bristol by a young printer and publisher.

Gill Sans was later used for printed works. The apartment, about 75 sqm, is located on the third floor of the building, inside 8;

It consists of a living room/kitchen, a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, and the bathroom. Of course There is a desk with a typewriter. 

The apartment is dedicated to the eighteenth-century British engraver William Caslon, creator of the homonymous font. Benjamin Franklin decided to print certified copies of the Declaration of Independence in Caslon font!

The apartment, measuring around 95 sq m, is located on the third floor of the building, apt number 9; it consists of a living room, kitchen, double bedroom with private bathroom without shower, double bedroom with sea view, single bedroom, bathroom with shower. Waiting for you, among other things, you will find an Adler Tippa typewriter from the early 1970s.

The apartment is dedicated to the English type-designer and printer John Baskerville, born in the early 18th century. It was him who invented the famous font and developed bookbinding printing methods that were innovative for his time period.

It consists of a living room with open plan kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom, and overlooks via Landolina.

Among other things, you’ll find an Antares Lisa 30 typewriter of the early seventies.

The apartment is dedicated to the Italian typographer Giovanni Battista Bodoni and the famous font created by him in 1798. Bodoni is also the author of the “Manual of Typography”, in which he distills the four principles the beauty of type derives from: uniformity of design, sharpness and neatness, good taste, and charm.

The accommodation gives access to a walkway and an actual doorway, and overlooks a lightwell. Among other things, there is an Olivetti Lettera 35 typewriter from the early seventies waiting for you in the room.

The apartment is dedicated to the French typographer Claude Garamond, who lived between the 15th and 16th century, and the famous fonts invented by him. His fame is connected to the original version of the “rounded” characters, which very soon replaced the gothic characters used at that time.
